California State Senator Ben Allen sent a representative to speak at the IMCES Holiday Celebration. The IMCES Holiday Celebration, featuring multiculturalism from around the world, was held at Plummer Park in West Hollywood. Attorney Allison Towle extended a warm welcome from Senator Ben Allen. In her speech, she discussed the importance of grassroots community organizations such as IMCES to instill hope and implement public policy initiatives on the ground in the Greater Los Angeles Area. She expressed her appreciation by stating: “IMCES is actually doing what we are planning and hoping to be done in the future.” She also commended IMCES for embracing multiculturalism while providing client services and promoting social justice.
Senator Ben Allen was elected in 2014 to represent the 26th Senate District, which consists of the Westside, Hollywood and coastal South Bay communities of Los Angeles County. He has authored several measures including the groundbreaking bill to boost vaccination rates among school children and a landmark river protection bill. He authored laws that protect veterans from pension scams; improve the diagnosis, treatment and care for persons with Alzheimer’s disease; strengthen the regulation of underground gas wells; and HIV legislation.
